Assignment 6

Create a comic in 6 to 12 panels. YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT (as discussed in class). Start with a storyboard, as  I demonstrated in class. And make sketches for characters and settings. This is what’s due this coming week, by the following class (after the Plan day) you’ll need to have a finished comic. Please note that if your comic is only 6 panels, they need to be VERY good panels!

In completing this assignment, consider “closure” between frames, how time is communicated, and the relationship between words and pictures. Keep in mind also the principles of narrative that we discussed: character, setting, tension/motivation, narrative arc.

You are free to chose whatever topics you like, but if  you are having trouble coming up with a story, try making a comic of a dream (like Jesse Reclaw’s Slowwave project) or make a comic of one day in your life (like James Kochalka’s Sketchbook Diaries).
